March 10 Photography Travel Series; Cuba 1 Havana and Countryside: Cliff Goosmann– This presentation is a combination of two trips to Cuba. We’ll revisit Havana and nearby areas and see what has changed in the past few years. Then off to the town of Vinales and slower lifestyle of the rural Cuban countryside, agricultural centers, the stunning tobacco-growing region, and ocean-side communities.
March 17 Photography Travel Series; Iceland….a Road Trip: Ed Soldo– highlights the North Atlantic’s mystical isle of fire and ice. It features a self-drive of the Ring Road and a track bisecting the interior highlands. Join us for glimpses of a dramatic volcanic landscape discovered by Vikings and worked by the early Norse settlers.
March 24 Photography Travel Series; The Grand European Cruise: Alan Lloyd– We join our ship in Budapest and cruise up the ‘Blue’ Danube to Austria and Germany. After visiting some unique Bavarian towns, we join the Rhine River where medieval castles guard the shores. We explore Europe’s largest Gothic cathedral in Cologne then end our cruise at the windmills of Holland.
March 31 Photography Travel Series; The Emerald Isle (Ireland): Cliff Turrell- Tour Ireland, enjoy natural beauty, and ancient culture. Neolithic graves pre-date the Pyramids! The North’s wonderful coastlines and Giant’s Causeway are spectacular. Donegal has the highest cliffs in Europe. The rugged West Coast (Cliffs of Moher) “softens” in the “Ring of Kerry” and Dingle Peninsula. Visit Rock of Cashel (Monastery).
April 7 Photography Travel Series; Cuba 2 Oriente (Eastern): Cliff Goosmann– The eastern end of Cuba is a very different world from western Cuba and metropolitan Havana. We’ll see Santiago, Guantanamo Bay and Baracoa, the area where Columbus supposedly first landed and where the Cuban revolution began. We’ll visit homes along the bay and even take a walk in a river.
April 14 Good Friday No Program
April 21 Photography Travel Series; Ethiopia: Neville Duffield– It all started with a book “Cutting for Stone”. We just had to visit Ethiopia. Not a trip for the faint hearted, we journeyed from Taxim in the North, to the Omo River in the South, seeing churches, villages, and people, relishing the scents and smells of this ancient land. Come with us to see the country of Sheba, fabled home of the Arc of the Covenant.
April 28 Photography Travel Series; Cruising the Mediterranean: Mike Rank
Our Mediterranean cruise on Oceania lines takes us from Venice to Barcelona in November of 2015. After two nights in Venice it’s off to our first port of call in Croatia. From there it’s on to Kotor, Montenegro and Palermo, Sicily. The next day we continued along the Italian cost to the port for Rome and then Pisa/Florence. After several stops in France we have the last two nights in Barcelona.
All programs begin at 7:30pm and are held at Sharon Woods in the Sharon Centre auditorium. The Photography Travel Series is free and open to the public.
Sharon Centre is at 11450 Lebanon Road (U.S. 42), Sharonville. A valid Hamilton County Park District Motor Vehicle Permit ($10 annual; $3 daily) is required to enter the parks.
